An observatory, or an alien structure - what on earth is Stonehenge? | Science | guardian.co.uk

The 20th-century archaeologist Jacquetta Hawkes said each generation "has
the Stonehenge it deserves – or desires".

It sounds plausible: every new generation makes a new 'discovery', tells a new story on Stonehenge.

Nobody truly knows who built Stonehenge. It has been shown that it has celestial alignments and one suspects it is spiritual in origin.I believe you have to consider the huge number of other megalythic sites in the South of England as probably part of a whole.Archeology alone is not going to solve this one.To think that a bunch of hairy men in animal skins built it seems to me somewhat absurd.
